The Church of the
Flying Spaghetti Monster, or Pastafarianism, is a
social movement that originated in opposition to
the teaching of intelligent design in public
schools.
In 2005, Bobby Henderson sent a letter to the Kansas Board of Education, which was debating including intelligent design in high school evolution classes. The letter parodied the reasoning used to argue a scientific basis for intelligent design and insisted teaching intelligent design must also include the alternative theory that the universe was created by a Flying Spaghetti Monster. |
